World Class Professional Tennis Returns To Rec Park

One of the oldest events on the ATP Challenger Tour will be returning for its 21st year July 12-20.

The field for the Levene Gouldin & Thompson $50,000 Challenger will feature 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. Players ranked as high as No. 50 in the world typically compete in the Challenger-level events. The qualifying tournament, beginning July 12, will determine the final four singles players in the field.

The USTA Pro Circuit event also featured a wild-card tournament at the Binghamton Tennis Center, June 13-15, which awarded the champions of the singles and doubles draw a spot in the LG&T Challenger qualifying tournament.

Richard Del Nunzio (Forest Hills, N.Y.) won the 32-player clay-court singles tournament advancing into the qualifying round at the LG&T Tennis Challenger. The duo of Thomas Caputo and Dzmitry Dyzmanovich captured the doubles tournament earning a position in the doubles qualifying round at the Challenger.

Caputo, a rising junior at Binghamton University, fell in the semifinals of the singles draw to doubles teammate Dyzmanovich.
