Americans Noah Rubin, Tommy Paul, and Reilly Opelka, along with Kyle Edmund of Great Britain, have been chosen as the wild card participants for this year’s LG&T Challenger.
Noah Rubin is the 2014 Wimbledon boys’ singles champion. The native of Rockville Centre, New York, had an outstanding season at Wake Forest this year and turned pro last month. While at Wake, Rubin was named ACC Player of the Year and finished the season ranked fifth in the nation. For a local connection, Rubin’s sister, Jessie, played at Binghamton University from 2010-13.
Tommy Paul won the 2015 French Open boys’ singles title. The New Jersey native won a pair of ITF Futures tournaments in May, taking titles in Spain and Italy.
Last week, Reilly Opelka won the 2015 Wimbledon boys’ singles championship. The native of Michigan joined Paul as the first pair of Americans to win junior Grand Slam Tournaments in the same year since 1977.
Kyle Edmund is ranked #101 in the world. He won a match at the 2015 French Open and appeared in the field at the Australian Open and Wimbledon this year. Edmund won the 2015 Hong Kong Challenger in February.
