Each year the LG&T Tennis Challenger awards four wildcards into the main draw. The four are selected by both the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and the LGT tournament director.
Alafia Ayeni (No.1280) is our first wildcard recipient. Alafia plays tennis at Cornell University where he finished the season 10-8. He was also named Ivy League Rookie of the Year this past season. He placed third at the 2017 Kalamazoo USTA Boys Tournament.
Second is Alex Rybakov (No. 524). Alex ranked as high as fourth in the NCAA rankings this past season at Texas Christian University. He has already won two International Tennis Federation (IFT) events in Rochester and in Buffalo this summer.
Our third selection, William Blumberg (No. 641), finished his season 21-3 at the University of North Carolina where he is ranked 2nd in the country. He made it to the 2017 LG&T Challenger Semi-Finals and the Quarterfinals of the 2018 NCAA tournament.
Our final wildcard spot belongs to Martin Redlicki (No.780). This past season at the University of California Los Angeles he was the top ranked college player. He made it to the Semifinals in this years NCAA singles bracket and was the NCAA doubles Champion with his partner Evan Zhu. He was also named the PAC 12 singles and doubles player of the year.
